Hi there,

Here are a few things that have really helped me stay organised and focused:

1. Set small, realistic goals

Breaking your work into smaller chunks makes it feel more manageable and helps you actually see your progress. You could aim to:

Finish one page of notes or one topic

Write 150–200 words of an essay

Do a few past paper questions

Read a single chapter of a textbook

I find it really helpful to write things down. Having a visual plan makes me more likely to stick to it. I use a calendar from The Works they have nice, affordable ones but Google Calendar works well too if you prefer something digital.

You can also colour-code your revision to see what needs more attention:

Red I don’t know this at all

Amber I know some of this

Green I know this really well

2. Try focus techniques

If your goal is to stay focused for around 30 minutes, the Pomodoro method could work really well for you. It’s simple: do 25 minutes of focused work, take a 5-minute break, and repeat. It helps you build focus gradually without feeling burnt out.

Apps like Flora or Forest can also help by blocking your phone while you work. If you find your phone too tempting, try turning it on silent and leaving it on the other side of the room.

A tidy space also makes a huge difference. I like to keep just what I need on my desk, play calm background music, and turn off notifications. Keeping water or a snack nearby stops me from getting up every few minutes.

3. Change your environment

Sometimes a change of scenery can help you focus better. If home feels distracting, try studying in a library, café, or a quiet spot at school/college. A new environment can make studying feel more intentional and less repetitive.

4. Reward yourself for small wins

If you manage to focus for half an hour or finish a topic, take a proper break or do something you enjoy. Giving yourself small rewards helps you stay motivated and makes studying feel more positive.

5. Look after yourself

It’s much easier to concentrate when you’re feeling rested and healthy. Try to get enough sleep, eat properly, stay hydrated, and move around a bit even a short walk can help clear your head.

Best of luck with your revision you’ve got this! 🙂
