Can I be accepted from Warwick cyber security with AAB?

I received AAB predicted grades A in computer science and economics and a B in biology. Warwick want AAA, do you think I still have a chance?

Also, I received a 5 in math gcse (warwick need a 4) but i’ve been thinking of applying to cardiff or lancaster. They both want a 6 so I emailed them saying my predicted grades and how I got a 5 and they said they would still consider. Lancaster asked for my all my gcses and said they would consider due to the fact I got 6’s in most sciences. Do you think I should apply to one of these? Cardiff want ABB-BBC and Lancaster want ABB

I think it’s possible, but it might be a bit of a stretch since Warwick usually looks for AAA. Your AAB prediction is quite close though, so it’s not out of reach. Sometimes universities are flexible, especially if the rest of your application is strong or if you perform well in related subjects like computer science.

It could help if you really focus on showing your passion for cyber security in your personal statement, maybe by mentioning any projects, competitions, or online courses you’ve done. You could also ask your teacher to highlight your strengths in computing or problem-solving.

In the end, it’s hard to predict exactly, because Warwick can be competitive, but people with slightly lower grades do sometimes get offers. So if it’s a course you really like, it’s definitely worth a try.

Hi there,

Even though Warwick lists AAA as the typical offer, the UCAS data shows that the most common grade profile students actually enter with is ABB. That means if the rest of your application is strong, and the course doesn’t receive an unusually high number of applicants this year, you still have a realistic chance, so I would definitely still apply.
For Warwick, the only GCSE requirements are a 4 in English Language and Maths, so you already meet that with your 5 in Maths.

Best wishes

We are completely in the same boat here. From chatting with the lecturer, the main thing they want is a passion for cyber, so just make sure you’ve done loads of extra curriculars. Hope this helps.

Heyy @simibains!

First of, well done on your predicted grades, AAB is a really strong set of predictions.

Looking at your situation, I would definitely still apply to Lancaster. As you mentioned, Lancaster is known for being flexible and will often consider applicants who are slightly below the stated entry requirements. For example, I personally didn’t meet the exact entry requirements for my course either, but I was still accepted into Lancaster because they took into account my EPQ, personal statement and overall performance.

Hopefully this is helpful and if you have any questions do feel free to reach out~
