Skeleton Essay Plan

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into how to do a law skeleton essay plan. I haven’t encountered this structure before and I’m stuck on how to start? Any help would be appreciated

Hi @Olivia222
A skeleton essay plan doesn’t have one fixed format because it really depends on the nature of the task. Some law assignments use an IRAC layout, others need a more traditional essay structure.
For example;

Problem questions usually use IRAC/ILAC for each issue

Essay/discussion questions usually use a standard essay plan (intro, key points/arguments, critique, conclusion)

A skeleton plan is just a plan of your structure, short bullet points showing what each section will cover, the main cases or laws you’ll rely on, and the direction of your argument. You’re not writing full sentences or analysis here, just mapping out the flow.

So before planning, the first thing to work out is: Is this a problem-style question or an essay-style question?
Goodluck!
