Funding accommodation at Royal Holloway?

Hi! I’m looking at studying at Royal Holloway in the future and I want to plan ahead for accommodation costs. How did you fund your accommodation or get extra support? Any tips on loans, bursaries, or things I should ask their finance office before I apply? Thanks for any advice! 🏡

Planning ahead for accommodation makes a big difference. At Royal Holloway, most students cover their accommodation through a mix of Student Finance loans, savings, or family support. If you’re a UK student, your maintenance loan can help with rent and living costs, and the amount depends on your household income. It’s worth checking out our bursaries and scholarships on this page.

Some students also apply for part-time work on campus or nearby to help with extra expenses. When you contact the finance office, it may be useful to ask about any bursaries you might be eligible for and how accommodation payments are scheduled (termly or monthly etc).
