Hi, just checking in to see if you still needed help with this?
It’s great that you’re thinking about how the course fits with your career goals. At Royal Holloway, the language and History of Art & Visual Culture courses (like French and History of Art, or Italian and Visual Culture) are structured so that about 25% of your credits focus on the History of Art/Visual Culture side, with the rest on language and cultural studies.
You’ll get to explore areas like art theory, visual media, and cultural history, and later on you can choose modules that match your interests for example, museum studies, fashion, or visual analysis. The cultural and historical side of the language modules also ties in nicely if you’re aiming for museum or research work with an international focus.
Many students find the course useful if they’re aiming for careers in museums, galleries, or cultural research, as it builds both analytical and language skills that are valuable in those fields.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Best wishes,
