Can I apply to Lancaster Uni Cyber security with a 5 in math

I got AAB predicted, A in computer science and economics and B in biology. However i got a 5 in math GCSE and they both want a 6. Lancaster want AAB. They also said Computer Science or Mathematics will be considered for a lower offer.

I emailed Lancaster and they asked for my other gcses and said that since I got 6’s in most sciences they will consider me.

Should I still apply?

If you emailed the uni and they said that you will be considered then it is worth applying provided that you want to go there for uni and you can prove that they said you will be considered.

Just remember that 'Consider' does not equal 'offer', so its very risky. And, CS is Maths based, so if you struggle with Maths and you didn't take Maths at A level, this may mean you struggle with the degree - especially if everyone else has higher Maths skills.

PS, as a warning to everyone else, usually if you do not meet any specific GCSE requirements it will be an immediate rejection, so please do not assume that any other Uni might take the same line on this
