Chemical engineering at Bath

I am currently looking at studying Chemical Engineering at Uni, and have seen that Bath ranks highly in many of the league rankings for ChemEng. However, their courses are not accredited by the IChemE, and I was wondering if that would put me at a disadvantage as a graduate? Would potential employers prefer someone with an accredited degree?

Looks like their course was previously accredited until this year, August 2025:

And on Bath course page they say their are working towards getting reaccredited again.
Might be worth emailing bath chem eng department for more information .

I am glad I looked on this chat. I too was thinking of Chem Eng in Bath, but now I'm not so sure.

@JammyJ199 - did you email Bath Uni by any chance for more info?

They did reply to my email. They did say that they were working on the renewal of the accreditation, as said on the website. They can't tell us any information about the process until the decision is made from iChemE. However, they said that they are very advanced in the accreditation process. So I wouldn't be worried im definitely going to apply, especially since they are ranked 4th for ChemEng behind oxbridge and imperial

Thank you, that's reassuring to know. Yes, excellent ranking is a big attraction. Is this one of your first choice?

Yes I received a similar response to miko, I really liked the look of Bath and it's reputation so it ended up as one of my choices aswell. I would certainly hope the renewal process is complete by September 2026!
