Another masters or PhD?

Hi I’m torn between doing a part time master next year or a PhD in a few years ago (undecided). Right now I have:
BSc, PGCE, Postgrad certificate, MEd in education.

I love being in the academic environment and find the topics/ discussion really intellectually stimulating. However I don’t feel ready to do a PhD as it’s a long commitment. So I wonder if I should do a MSc in research methodology and design? Which will build a strong foundational for a future PhD. I work full time at a large educational company. Learning research methods could also open other roles for me.

I would love some advice. Would it be a better use of my time and energy if I just do a PhD in the future? Although it won’t be in the next 5-6 years as I’m thinking of starting a family in the next 2-3 years.
