Bristol Contextual offer query

So today I received an offer from Bristol for Mechanical Engineering fully expecting to get the standard offer of A*AA. However I only need AAB. I have not completed a university outreach programme and I attend a highly rated grammar school. Is there any reason why I got a contextual? Even though it’s not on the webpage I was wondering as I live fairly close in Gloucestershire whether this is a reason.

Hi there!

Huge congrats on your offer, this is great news 🙂

People can be eligible for a number of reasons and this varies per uni. Here at Bath we look into a lot of factors such as whether you are a care leaver or care experienced, have been eligible for free school meals, live in an area with low university participation eg IMD1/2 and several more data points.

If you have thoroughly looked into the contextual offer policy and are still unsure why you have been made a contextual then there is no harm at all in emailing or ringing up the admissions team to clarify. It may like you said be because of your home postcode but they'll be happy to clarify for you if you are unsure.

Best of luck with everything!

Check the contextual offer criteria - and if it still doesn't make sense, email the Uni and ask.

Bristol have offers for Sixth Forms based on the postcodes. Check this information on their website.
