LNAT score received early?

Hey everyone,

I sat my LNAT on the 4th of September this year. When I first registered my account on the LNAT website, I ticked every university on the list under the section that says “Please indicate the university or universities you plan to apply to.” I did this because, during a law taster day I attended, the Director of Admissions for Law advised that it doesn’t actually matter which boxes you tick. She even recommended selecting all of them just to be safe, in case we forgot to include the universities we actually planned to apply to. That list includes O.P. Jindal Global University, even though I don’t intend to apply there.

Fast forward to today: I received an email from JGLS titled “Your LNAT Test Score and Next Steps for Admission to Jindal Global Law School (JGLS).” This completely threw me off because I was expecting to get my LNAT results in February. When I opened the email, they addressed me by my full name, listed my correct LNAT Reg Number, and included my score, 28/42. Now I’m wondering: is this result reliable?

I’m also feeling pretty frustrated. I’ve applied to top universities; Cambridge (clare college), LSE, KCL, Durham, and Bristol. And the average LNAT score for offer holders at Cambridge, LSE, and KCL tends to be around 29 or 30. That puts me slightly below the average range. For context, I’m predicted A* in Maths, A* in English Literature, A in History, and A* in my EPQ.

Do you think my chances of getting into at least LSE or KCL are low now because of my LNAT score? I recognise that Cambridge places a lot of weight on the interview so I guess I'm going to have to really polish that (assuming I'm invited).

I’d really appreciate any insight. I’m honestly just confused and a bit annoyed right now.

It’s not actually legal for them to disclose your score before the equal consideration deadline as other applicants are still undergoing testing. Also the score comes from the official LNAT providers not unis. I have no clue how accurate that score/ information is but it’s definitely not allowed.
Maybe contact Pearson Vue/ your LNAT providers and question them?

Does sound a bit odd? LNAT scores are usually released in early Feb but unis can get them soon after the test is taken but are not allowed to share the result

hey,

upon review and some searching around on reddit, I'm pretty sure that this is legit. O.P. Jindal is a legit university in india that uses the LNAT as part of admissions, and many other students are in the exact same situation as me: we ticked every uni on the LNAT website as a precaution (including JGLS) and, as a result, the university thinks we're applying there and has sent us our scores. I'm not complaining though, i think its absolutely ridiculous that we had to wait until february. People who take the UCAT get their scores much earlier than we do and keeping the scores unknown until after applications just adds a completely unnecessary layer of anxiety.

Thanks for your reply though!

I know, the wait time is absolutely ridiculous, and I’m still waiting on mine lol. I’d definitely report it to the LNAT providers though as it is against the rules and regulations and maybe the university isn’t aware of that

It isn’t illegal as the OP agreed to have their results released to that university. Also, they’re in India, and won’t have agreed with the Consortium not to divulge scores with students. Perfectly legal for them to do so.

Please explain whether the score was literally just listed in the email or whether you needed to access like a PDF to get the score and do some sort of authorisation to access the encrypted message.

I just had someone tell me that they put jindal down on purpose so they could receive their lnat scores earlier so I’d say it’s reliable. And I just saw a first year kcl law student say they got 28/42 on lnat and AAB at alevel and were predicted similar with you. I’m also hoping to apply to kcl.

its not legal under what law? Also the score COULD come from a uni because they get sent our results the minute we consent to it on LNAT.

Hey! I just got this too! I was hoping that the email would contain the actual LNAT score like other people’s apparently did, but for some reason the email received is just talking about payment fees etc for the uni 😭😭

when i asked admissions at KCL in sept, they told me their cut off score for the LNAT for the 2024 cycle was 28 and they dont see a reason to change that for this year unless everyone across the country does fab/really awful

Please note : Unis can download your LNAT score and your essay the day after you complete the test, and they may make you an immediate offer - but UK Unis are not allowed to tell you your LNAT scores.

I just selected the O.P. Jindal Global University box but I sat for the LNAT on the 14th of October. Do you think I can still receive my score?

I have been told by LNAT Pearson that :
We had a meeting with OP Jindal approximately 3 weeks ago, on 27 November, during which we explained the usual LNAT setup and expectations, and the usual timelines for UCAS university applications, and our score mail outs from Pearson. They agreed they would no longer share score information with candidates.

Has anyone received scores from Jindal since 27 November?
