What it's like to study in London?

Living and Studying in the Heart of London

Your London life starts the moment you step onto campus at LSBU. It’s a city that never really stops and it is full of energy, creativity, and opportunity. At LSBU, you get the best of both worlds: a supportive campus community and everything London has to offer right on your doorstep.

The LSBU Students’ Union (https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/student-life/students-union) always has something happening, from quiz nights and movie screenings to cultural events that brings everyone together. It’s such a friendly campus where you’ll meet people from all over the world, and international students always say how welcoming and supportive the community is. With Elephant & Castle station just a few minutes away, it’s really easy to explore the rest of London. You can hop on the tube or bus to Covent Garden, Camden, or Shoreditch whenever you feel like it.

Our Southwark campus is in such a great location, and you can literally walk to the River Thames, the London Eye, or even the South Bank in under ten minutes. After lectures, you’ll often find students grabbing a drink by the river, exploring Borough Market, or just chilling in one of the nearby parks (Elephant Park).

Around campus, you’ll never run out of food spots. Nandos and Wetherspoons are just a few minutes away, which is perfect for group meals or post-exam celebrations. For something sweet, Mooboo does amazing bubble tea (and LSBU students get a discount!), and there’s a cosy little café and burger shop nearby that’s a favourite among students for a quick lunch or late study break snack. The 24 hour corner shop near the main building honestly becomes a lifesaver during exam season. It’s perfect for energy drinks, snacks, or those last-minute essentials when you’re pulling a late-night study session.

If you’re into exploring, the area around LSBU has so much to do. You can take a short walk to Borough Market or Mercato Metropolitano for fresh food, desserts and treats from all over the world. The Tate Modern, BFI, and the IMAX cinema are nearby for film and art lovers, and places like Burgess Park or Waterloo Millennium Green are perfect for when you want a bit of peace and green space. If you’re into gaming or trying something new, check out Electric Gamebox for a fun night out with friends.

At LSBU, London isn’t just the place you study in, it’s part of your whole experience. The city’s buzz mixes perfectly with the friendly vibe on campus, and you end up feeling like you’re learning just as much outside the classroom as inside it. One day you’re grabbing food by the river, the next you’re finding a new café or park to hang out in. London quickly becomes your classroom and your home all at once, with something new to see, try, or explore every single day.
