Mechanical Engineering – This is the most flexible route. It gives you a solid foundation in core engineering principles (like mechanics, materials, and thermodynamics), and from there you can move into automotive, aerospace, or even motorsport. It’s also really well recognised by employers.
•
Automotive Engineering – Great if you’re passionate about cars and vehicle systems. It’s more focused than mechanical, but still broad enough to keep your career options open.
•
Aerospace Engineering – Perfect if you love aircraft, aerodynamics, and space tech. There’s lots of overlap with mechanical too, so it’s not as narrow as it sounds.
•
Motorsport Engineering – The most specialised of the four. Amazing if you’re set on F1 or racing, but it can limit your options outside that field. Many people actually start with mechanical or automotive, then specialise in motorsport later.
