Plans for reading week?

Although it differs for each uni, this time of year is when many universities have a week off within the academic calendar 😪.

Reading week is usually my chance to slow down and catch up on all my assignments and academic readings I have been neglecting. It is also a good time to refresh and reorganise myself for the end of the semester 🤗!

My reading week has just started and I aim to catch up on work but also enjoy a slightly quieter campus

I've just had mine! It was definitely a well-needed break ☺️

My top tip for reading week would be to listen to yourself - your mind and your body - and do what you need to get yourself running in top condition again! Whether that's some down time to destimulate and have some quiet time to yourself or catching up with some friends or family to nurture that support from loved ones, a week away from timetabling can be a great time for this. The important thing is to tell yourself it's okay to stop and take the pressure off so you can come back for the rest of the term feeling strong 💝

I also find it helps to plan what you're going to do in the week ahead - as per the name it is also a good chance to catch up on reading or any outstanding work for assignments, without the pressure of timetable schedules adding on to it. For me, I like to decide on a few days for the whole week which are designated uni work days - leaving me the rest of the time to enjoy taking some time off guilt-free 😄

To yourself and all students, good luck with the rest of your term!

Hiya!

During reading week, I would usually take the time to relax and recharge a bit. I would often go home to spend some quality time with family and friends, it’s always nice to reconnect, especially as sometimes my friends would also come home around this time. Even though we’re all spread out across the country for university, I’ve managed to stay connected with everyone, which is really lucky.

It’s also a great opportunity to catch up on any assignments or work that’s been piling up, but I make sure to keep a healthy balance so it doesn’t feel overwhelming. Also, as I usually had a part-time job, I often use the week to pick up a few extra hours too.

Hi @Kingston Zhi En 👋

Thats a great tip!

Here at Essex, we have 2 weeks left until our reading week so not long! This time of year is busy with coursework so the reading week is an opportunity to take a break. I am planning on polishing up my assignments if i have any ( I have one that is due a week after the reading week so its a perfect time to work on it and polish it off for submission) 🙂

I am also planning on making sure my module notes are all prepared and set for the current modules and upcoming module as well 📒 Its important to take a break though, you have a whole week so relax as well. I am going read a book during that week as well and spend some time with my family 😀

Hope everyone enjoys their reading week if you haven't already had it!

I have lectures in reading week so no change, except one is on a Monday instead of a Tuesday.
I basically more or less refused to work this reading week so I crammed a lot of work last week to mostly relax this week and enjoy doing nothing at all
