do i have a chance to get into a university?

do i have a chance?

Im 23 and want to study university in the UK. I live in the caribbean( British Overseas territory) and did CAPE which is equivalent to A levels. I read the requirements for the Unis Im interested in and they require AAB. For Cape i only got One Grade One which is equivalent to an “A” the rest were Grade Three and Grade Fours. Do i have a chance? should i apply to do a foundation year?

University of York

University of Leicester
University of Strathclyde

I want to get an accounting and finance degree.

Birmingham and York are competitive. Accounting and Finance is also competitive. A-Level equivalent ACD is a bit far below AAB for a competitive uni-course combination. As you are applying through UCAS and will have 5 choices, there is no harm applying to these 2 unis, just be prepared for a direct rejection. Your chances would be higher at some less competitive unis.

If your finance could afford an extra year, foundation would be a good option. Just state here if you want help in applying to foundations.

Lastly, you still have time to think it over for 2026 entry. No need to go for education agents. Good luck.

It is your (or your family's) decision on whether to settle with a less competitive uni, or to spend an extra year (and money) for a competitive uni's foundation.

Foundations listed on UCAS are only for local students. You may check your eligibility, you may apply through UCAS. Otherwise, you may consider international foundations:

Good luck.

Hello @ifailedeng 🙂 We can be quite competitive for Accounting, and in particular we look for a good component of Maths within your qualifications. I'd recommend emailing our team at [email protected] with a note of your qualifications (include the transcript if you can) and they'd be able to confirm if we're able to consider you just now, or what type of prep study could be appropriate if not.
