What A levels should I do

Hi guys,

I ideally want to do law or economics at uni cuz I want to be a corporate solicitor (lawyer)

I’m thinking of taking:

Fm, maths, Geography and Econ (for econ)

Or

Geography, Economics, French, EPQ (for law)

The reason why I’m considering economics is because it opens more doors for me in the long run, I find it interesting, it’s easy to switch to law after and because I want to be a ‘corporate’ lawyer specifically, it will probably help

(also considering chemistry a level)

Many Thanks if you can help

Depends whether your more into more quantitative side or debating tbh. Economics at uni is more mathematical whereas law is more thought provoking. I couldn’t tell you which to pick id just suggest to do the ones you like the most!!!! But do take into consideration that if you don't take Alevel maths then Economics Bcs wont be an option- so maybe take it just in case. Btw when applying for law they usually dont ask for any specific subjects so you could take those econ ones and still apply for law if you decide. Or you could also take french instead of further maths if you considering 4 subjects- that keeps you opened for both courses (except lse and camb that asks for fm for econ).

Do you enjoy maths? Are you good at it?
If youre strongly considering econ as a degree then take double maths and see how it goes.
Do you know when your school does EPQ?
If they dont run it from the start of the year you could always take fm, see if you like it and swap to EPQ if not.
Law has no subject specific requirements, econ requires maths usually and for top unis fm is ideal. You dont need to do geog, french or econ but they all have their merits so take the 2 or 3 that you enjoy most.
I would suggest you do maths unless you hate it or are predicted less than a 7 and then 2 from geography, econ and french and start with fm (if you like maths, are strongly considering econ and are predicted at least an 8 in maths) and then switch to epq if possible after a few weeks if you dislike fm.
