Different unis have different requirements, some unis accept 2:2 undergrad degrees. You may apply with transcripts/results of year 1 and 2, the uni may give you conditional offer listing the required degree classification for admittance. Good luck.

It depends where you are applying. if it is a 2 year shortened course then you will need some clinical experience too. Which Unis are you considering?

Hi Bobby,

That’s a great question, and it’s really good that you’re looking into the entry requirements early. At London South Bank University (LSBU), the entry requirement for the MSc Adult Nursing (Pre-Registration) course is a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) with a minimum 2:2 classification. This course is designed for graduates from any background who want to pursue a career in nursing and gain NMC registration as a qualified adult nurse.

If your undergraduate degree is not in a health or science-related field, LSBU requires you to complete a Life Sciences Workbook package as part of your application. This ensures you meet the essential biological and physiological knowledge needed for nursing practice. You’ll also need to have completed GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications) in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above before the course begins.

When it comes to applying, you can absolutely submit your application while awaiting your final transcript or degree classification. Many applicants do this each year. You’ll just need to include your current transcript (if available) or a predicted classification from your university. Once your final degree result is confirmed, LSBU will ask you to provide the official transcript before enrolment. The admissions team is understanding and will guide you on the process once you apply.

The MSc Adult Nursing programme at LSBU is highly regarded for its strong links with NHS Trusts and healthcare providers across London, giving students the opportunity to experience a wide range of clinical placements during their studies. You’ll be taught by a team of experienced lecturers and practising nurses, and benefit from access to LSBU’s state-of-the-art clinical simulation suites that mirror real hospital and community care environments.

If you’d like to learn more about the course, I’d strongly recommend attending our upcoming Open Day on Saturday 15th November. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet lecturers, speak with current nursing students, and explore the facilities where you’ll be training. You can also ask about placement opportunities, application tips, and how to complete the Life Sciences Workbook if needed.

👉 You can sign up here: LSBU Open Day.
👉 You can also chat with our students through our Unibuddy platform: Chat with our students.

LSBU has an excellent reputation in health and social care education, and its central London location means you’ll be studying right in the heart of one of the UK’s most vibrant healthcare regions. So, if you’re passionate about becoming a nurse and ready to take that next step, LSBU is an amazing place to begin your journey.
