Hi I'm an international student and I did my exams last year equivalent to gcse and they're a mixes of 7 and 8s. I'm hoping to study econ in Cambridge and lse and I can make up for it with my grades for my a level equivalents (I can get A*). Am i in the clear?

I would say depends on the number of 8s, how well you come across if there is an interview and personal statement, but you need to be ready that your GCSEs are not the strongest, certainly as you are international as well which makes it more difficult to get in.

you would need an incredible TMUA score (7.0+ def) ... and 4 stars. Even then...

As I said, that is still a big IF. Your GCSEs are done and they do meet the minimum accepted requirements even if they are not the strongest it means theoretically you will be considered. The best you can do know is try and get a GOOD tmua and PS, which would definitely up your chances, but no-one can say, 100% you can or cannot get in.
