How important is attendance in S6?

I've struggled with severe anxiety these past few years and my attendance completely tanked, but I'm medicated now and steadily making progress back up. Has this shut me out of Uni altogether or would it be alright with an explanation?

Good afternoon,

I recommend speaking to your head of sixth form and ensuring they are aware of the situation, as well as their reference policy. The person providing your sixth form reference is the one you need to make sure knows about your anxiety, and knows why you have missed school. If you have any medical evidence, you can provide it to your sixth form to ensure it is not an unauthorised absence, but rather a medically authorised one. This will help ensure the university treats you fairly and with understanding. You could also include a small sentence in your personal statement saying you have overcome struggles during your sixth form due to your anxity, and how you have learned from this and how it has affected you.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let us know.

All the best,
Ella
