Struggling with sixth form

Not too sure where this post is going but here’s my ramble. Upon receiving GCSE results my previous Grammar secondary school did not allow me to take my subjects as they had become stricter on requirements. Although I did have the option to change subjects I was eager to do my subjects so I decided to move schools to a new sixth form part of a state school. Originally a close friend of mine and some classmates were also moving to this school. However my close friend decided to move back to our previous school after 3 weeks in to the term. I was not against my friend moving schools but now I’m left in a position where school is just mentally draining. Without a proper group of friends nothing about school is motivating and although I can do the subjects I want to I am struggling and just in denial that I had to move schools in the first place. I hope in a few months time this feeling is gone but being alone in all my classes and frees and struggling to make new friends is making me really dislike the whole environment around me. Ultimately I am just left in regret with GCSE results and everything just begins to spiral. Alongside the move from a grammar to state school I just feel very demotivated as the general environment is different and the behaviours of students is a huge difference. Wondering if anyone relates or how they overcame this situation!

Sounds like the last few months have been really tough. Changing schools, losing your friendship group, and adjusting to a new environment would be difficult for anyone, so, understandably, you’re feeling demotivated.
Feeling lonely at a new sixth form can make everything seem harder, but this early stage is often the hardest. It may help to give it a bit more time, get involved in a club or group where you might meet people outside your classes, and speak to a tutor or teacher you trust for support.
You chose subjects you care about, and that took courage. Many students feel like this after a school move, but it usually improves with time. You’re not alone, and things can settle as you find your place.

Thank you so much I’ll try to be more involved and look forward to the coming months.
