Bristol application on put on hold?

I’ve just received an email saying my application to do law at Bristol has been put on hold because they are unable to make their decisions immediately. What is even the point of this? Is it a bad thing and indicates I probably won’t get in? Bristol takes the LNAT so I didn’t even think I’d be getting any reply any time soon as I was told it takes till February for them to get them.

Without these hold messages you would be surprised the amount of applicants that contact unis to make sure their application has been received and to ask for an approximate decision timescale. The notification is to preempt as many of those enquiries as possible.

It doesn’t mean anything one way or another with regards to the outcome.

I got accepted after being put on hold for a few months. Equally it can go the other way but ultimately nothing to worry about.

Once your application is On Hold, do Bristol wait until May before making an offer or is there a chance that a decision would be made before the Jan deadline for making Uni choices?

My son would really like to know if he gets an unconditional offer (he already has his grades AAA) before applying to other choices where he may need to retake.

Potentially they could do, but there is no way to be sure. Even if they have made early decisions previously, they might no do so this year for your Son's course. Or they may do for one course but not another.

It just means that they have not read your application yet.
Which subject have you applied for?

Then there is nothing to worry about - most offers will be made in the New Year.

It’s just more the fact that I haven’t been put on hold like many who applied around the same time

Check you LNAT details on the Pearson site - LNAT | Study at Bristol | University of Bristol
If that is all okay, then email your LNAT id to [email protected]
