Gap year/resitting for medicine - suffering log

Hello! I got ABB in my A Levels which was such a shock to my system, I'm still not over it. I decided on taking a gap year, and redoing the ucat (which went so much better this time so maybe that's a sign...) and redoing chemistry and maths a level which I got two B's in. I started revising for maths today and I am so scared to face chemistry as I got such a weak B, lowkey scraped it. But for maths I was one mark away, got a remark and lost 4 😭😭😭. So my confidence took too many hits recently. Anyway, I am going to actually document how it goes as a way to cope and to hopefully find other people suffering like me. This sucks, but giving up hope sucks worse.

I think this says does redoing a levels slim your medicine uni options or not? Yes, it does. Some unis don't accept resits and some wanted AAB as their resit policy. I called up every single uni and asked them to make sure and made a Google doc of what they said. But there's definitely more than 5 that accept resits and foundation years are also am option too! Some unis don't use resits grades for their foundation years if you already meet their requirements so just ask! I think if you don't want to call email is also an option but a telephone call is quickest, obviously.

That said, if you had extenuating circumstances (like me) most universities would accept resits. However, some unis define extenuating circumstances differently. Some only define it as if someone died in your family or if you got really super ill during a levels or there was a serious issue with your school.
