I was wondering what the chances of me getting into Glasgow’s (I already go there) gateway to medical studies course would be if anyone knows as someone reapply for ucas this year due to not liking my current degree. I’m eligible for it as I live in an SIMD 20 zone first off, my higher grades were AABBB and my advanced higher grades were CC and I didn’t pass maths but I am doing maths in my degree right now that I’m doing very well at and I think this may be equivilent as It says they allow for retakes. I’m also doing higher human biology myself this year. I’ve found a connection to the nhs that could possibly get me shadowing experience for a week or so hopefully. As I am originally a physics student planning to switch I am also competing in the International Physicist Tournament next week in london but I dont know if this is relevant to Medicine aswell as hopefully the IntoUniversity volunteering.
this is also a list of what I put in my previous personal statement last year:
Mentors In Violence Prevention for 2 years, Prefecting, Glasgow’s Academic Skills module in the summer school, voulenteered in a junior science class for a year, I did tutoring of an S4 pupil in physics, I lead the STEM club at my school, I participated in Mock COP28 representing the Nordic council, I did dancing for 7 years and then figure skating for 2 years.
I can’t really think of anything else that might be of use but if anyone knows kind of what my chances would be based off of what I’ve done that would be great thanks
