"It is essential to collaborate when planning a successful citizenship action"
How far do you agree with this view?
You must base your answer on your experience of your own citizenship action.
Give reasons for your opinion, showing that that you have considered another point of view (12)
I agree with the statement as without collaboration, there would be many disputes within the group. For example, when our group had different ideas as to how we were going to present the video, we held vote between us and the decision was made very quickly. The idea of a vote ensured that the minor dispute was resolved as soon as possible to prevent any delays. It also improved the communication between our team mates.
One reason why I disagree is because different members can have different allocated roles in creating the citizenship action. For example, I was in charge of creating the survey to hand out to my classmates and another member was in charge of editing. This way, several tasks were being completed at the same time, hence the speed of completing the video increased. If we all collaborated on one aspect of the video, the production may take longer if we have disputes.
Another reason why I agree with the statement is because without collaboration, ideas cannot be shared and discussed. For example, when planning the video, we started off with a PowerPoint to lay down the structure and order of the video. It was distributed to all the members and we could all edit the PowerPoint, allowing us to clearly share ideas. This meant that we were able to select the best options, majority of which were not the original plan, and produce an effective citizenship action.
Overall, I agree with the statement as without collaboration, ideas which were better suited to the video wouldn't have been included and our citizenship action wouldn't have been as effective.
