speaking

how do people speak so well. i feel like eveything that comes out of my mouth sounds so stupid. how do you actively think before u speak in different settings. how do people articulate themselves in a way that makes them seem so interesting. i think im clever but my mind and mouth always seem to go blank and i always find myself replaying situations in my mind thinking about everything i could have said.

Hi!

I hope you are well! This is something that I have thought about before as I have to do numerous presentations for my course. I am studying business management at LJMU and last year during my first year, we were assigned multiple presentations. I was not looking forward to doing the presentations as I do not like standing in-front of a group of people to speak and like you have said I felt as though everything that came out of my mouth sounded silly or I was afraid I would start stuttering or not know what to say!

My best advice to help with this is try and speak a-bit slower. This can be applied to not only presentations but to normal everyday conversations as well. Don't speak so slow that it sounds like you are in slow motion 😂 but just a little bit will make it a lot easier for you. You will find you have more time to correctly pronounce words and you will be able to think more easily before saying things. I didn't think it would work so well however, after trying it in my presentations and when I am just speaking to friends etc, I can definitely tell the difference in a positive way!

I hope this response has helped you slightly, give the slower speaking a go and hopefully it benefits you like it benefited me! Let me know if you have any other questions, I am more than happy to help!

Thanks, Matt 🙂

i think its just about having confidence in yourself at the end of the day. I understand how u feel, but if you keep telling yourself you think you sound stupid, it ruins how you view yourself and u wont gain that confidence to be able to speak freely without doubting yourself. don't overthink too much and just be in the moment.
If you say you're clever then im sure u are and i bet you speak perfectly fine, you just need to have confidence in yourself )
