Hi @Asterick imp,

My name is Harvey, and although I am not a student at AUB, I am a third year student at Bournemouth University.

I have had just over 2 years of living here in Bournemouth, and I can say that its not as expensive as you might think. There are plenty of cheap supermarkets, like Lidl or Aldi for you to do your weekly food shop. There are also cheap places to unwind/grab a drink, such as The George Tapps bar in Lansdowne - they often do £3 pints. By being a student as well, you of course unlock a tonne of student discounts, maybe you could check out UniDays or StudentBeans.

When it comes to living expenses, i.e. rent and utility bills, prices vary. Rent is very dependant on location and facilities, so its hard to predict what your average cost might be per month. Student utility bills are also hard to forecast as it depends on how many people you share your house with. However, companies like Split the Bill and Fused help with this by giving you a price of all your essential utilities in one place (i.e. gas, electric, water).

That being said, if you're interested in joining for your first year, you can check out AUB's page for their student accommodation costs - tip: these are usually inclusive of utility bills (exc. washing facilities which are pay per use).

I hope this helps. If you have any more queries, please dont hesitate to ask - I am here to help

We couldn't have said it better ourselves Harvey! Also worth noting that Bournemouth was names the 6th most affordable student city in the UK by Natwest this year (https://www.natwest.com/life-moments/students-and-graduates/student-living-index.html).
Here are a few useful pages on our website too:
