Possible to get A* in Economics A level in five months.

Im sitting exams as private candidate and had to drop Eng Lit due to NEA. My other subjects are Philosophy and Politics. Is it feasible to study Economics alongside those other subjects in just 5 months and achieve an A*. Id rather do sociology instead but im worried admissions team may view me as a weaker candidate as sociology is considered a softball course.

It is, but it would be incredibly difficult, stressful and your other subjects will likely drop a grade at least. If you think you can manage it, you can give it a shot, but the likelihood you get an A* and keep your other subjects up is incredibly low.

You want to do sociology though, and while it can be seen as a 'softball subject', doing it in 5 months is still very impressive. What are you trying to do at uni? If you check the entry requirements subject-wise, you may be able to do sociology anyway.

Also, you can apply for extenuating circumstances with the entry requirements at uni due to broken learning - which I'm assuming you'd qualify for as you're doing an A-Level in 5 months.

Also, admissions won't care what extra subjects you do, as long as they recognise them as subjects (ones like critical thinking aren't recognised), fulfill the basic entry requirements, and you can show yourself to be passionate about the subject you apply for in your personal statement. 😊
