Media degree - Do I have any choices other then media to be a secondary teacher?

Hey,

I graduated in 2010 with a 2.2 in Media culture & Production. My A levels were Media & Photography. I have since worked in the industry in creating TVC's, online ads, advertising etc. Most recently I have been working for the last few years as a wedding photographer.

I would really love to get into teaching. I think I would be best suited to go into secondary schools. I have a passion for creative arts and I would love to pass this on...

My question is do I have any options with regards to the postgraduate routes to become a teacher? What options will I be able to teach? Will I be able to do any of the apprenticeship routes or will I only be able to go university route and teach media studies?

I am interested in different subjects, Art & Design, Drama, Media, Photography, Textiles DT. Thanks,

Oh that's not great.

A PGCE technically qualifies you to teach 'anything' but it depends what schools would offer you.

Over the years I've taught Physics and even textiles when the teacher was off sick and I was the only one with any qualification in that area. [I teach Maths]

You could try ringing a few unis to see what PGCEs they would offer you?
