For vet sci, U of Notts offers a free vet virtual work experience here: https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/vet-school-application-support

Which still counts as work experience, so no need to be worried.

For biochem, I did the British Brain Bee with www.biolympiads.com, which helped me increase my biochemical knowledge beyond the school curriculum, so I'd recommend that.
