Taking a gap year to apply for Oxford??

Would Oxford have an issue with me taking a gap year to apply for Oxford to do history or law?? I unfortunately missed out on the early application schedule this year but I still would like to apply next year Im just not sure if they would consider less of my application because I took a year out to apply. Im positive I will get 3 A* in my A levels and be able to build up more work experience during the year which would help my application too but I dont know if taking a gap year would be a major obstacle

I don't think it should be an issue, my previous classmate is taking a gap year to reapply for oxbridge. He got an interview last year and got all A*. It would still be worth emailing admissions for their opinion!!

They don't mind gap years, just make sure not to waste it and be productive with your time to support your uni application - read more on History, or Law, get a job, etc etc

Hiya @roman_Empire67 ,
many people take gap years before going to uni. Are there any specific plans you have for the year out?
As you said, a gap year might help you build some relevant work experience and may give you the time and space you need to reflect over everything that has happen and give you a fresh start 🤗

Thank you for your reply! There is nothing really confirmed at the moment, but I'm thinking if I applied now or during the holidays I could get some work experience at a Law Firm or shadow a Barrister etc as well as reading more about law etc. Would that be a productive use of the time?
