Finance or Economics at Durham?

For context, I am a current year 13 at a private school, with A*A*A predicted A-Levels in Maths, Economics and Physics respectively. I got 9998888777 in my GCSEs, with an A in FSMQ Additional Maths.

I've been looking at Economics and Finance at Durham, and from what I have gathered, Economics has a 20% acceptance rate for domestic students and A*AA offer, whilst Finance has an acceptance rate of about 40% and AAB offer.

I was just wondering if I have any chance at Economics at Durham, and what the difference in career prospects post-uni would be like. Is there any chance that employers would look unfavourably at Finance due to the lower requirements? Lastly, I just wondering if they chance of me being accepted to Finance was very high due to my predicted grades being a lot higher than the requirements.

Thank you in advance for any responses.

Apply for econ !! You’ve got the grades in A-Level and GCSE, as long as your personal statement is strong as Durham is really tight on that you should be ok. A lot of people apply for econ at Durham with A*AA, so your predicted are way above. Also apply to Bath, Bristol, Warwick etc and then one lower one like York maybe and you’ll def get York to insure then you just need one offer from one of those ones and your set!!
