Can I still study a degree with an economics element with my a-level combination?

I'm in year 12 currently taking Geography, Maths, German and EPQ. I achieved 99999999988 in my GCSEs, and am thinking about applying to Oxbridge or LSE (as well as other unis). At the minute I would like to do a degree in Geography, or Geography with Economics (at LSE) but am just worried that my combination of subjects would be less competative if I don't have Econ or FM for LSE? I am planning to do lots of reading around Econ anyway, and have just been accepted into a Cambridge academic attainment programme that will help me develop my wider reading, but I know that LSE is still quite hard to get into.

Hey 0heellis,
Your GCSE scores are excellent as you already know, and you don't need to worry about your A-Level choices, Geography, Maths, and German make a strong mix, and your EPQ adds great academic depth.
So you can definitely apply for degrees with an Economics element. For LSE Geography with Economics, A-level Maths is essential (which you have); Economics or Further Maths are not required, just helpful. Oxbridge Geography is also perfectly fine with your subjects.
Your Cambridge attainment programme and wider reading will strengthen your application, just be sure to show your interest in the economic side through your EPQ or personal statement.
You’re in a great position, keep it up! Just make sure you get those predicted grades as high as possible.

FM is only mainly needed/preferred for single honours economics courses in very mathematically oriented departments.

If you want to do geography, geography and/with economics, or land economy type degrees, then A-level Maths alone is perfectly sufficient I would expect

A level Economics is surprising not required or preferred for a degree in Economics - its Maths that is the essential subject.
