Leaving uni in 1st term

Hi,

I'm a 2nd year nursing student. I've received my 1st maintenance payment.

I'm wondering what would happen with student finance if I left University, and started at a different uni Sept 2026. I'll still be studying nursing.

Will I need to repay the money back? and will it be straightaway?

Thanks.

Hi there. If you withdraw from a course then you may occur an overpayment of your Maintenance Loan.

Overpayments are calculated based on your date of last attendance, and any money you have gone into overpayment for is liable to be paid back as soon as possible. It does not enter the normal repayment process.

You would be contacted regarding any overpayment you have via a letter, and details of how to pay this back. You do not have to pay back the overpayment in full right away. You can set up an affordable repayment plan with our repayments team.

If you do not set up a repayment plan, then the overpayment would be deducted in full from your future entitlement. Thanks, Leah.
