Just realised my desire for Oxbridge has been finished by my GCSE results

I know they weren't good, and they are terrible by my standards. I get really stressed about STEM subjects and I was never too good at them, and those took a toll on my other subjects, I am doing geography, English literature, and Religious Studies as A-Levels, apparently I am doing very well at these and my teachers agree that I can be in a position for A*s-As potentially across the board if I work hard, which I definitely am doing. The potential reason for my grade drop at GCSE is due to a lack of provisions put in place for my AuDHD through school. I do want to go to Liverpool to do law, but my SENCO told me to look at Oxbridge because I am apparently intelligent, although this isn't necessarily reflected in my GCSE results. I wanted to do law. I only got 7777666544. The 4s were in physics and chemistry, and the 5 was in maths.

Don't get too hung up on Oxbridge. It can hinder other opportunities to get success and remember, of course if you do well at a good uni at undergrad level you can do a postgrad course at Oxbridge.

You want to go to Liverpool to do Law, someone told you to consider Oxbridge but that's a bad idea considering your GCSEs. Your original dream of going to Liverpool is still a chance - basically all unis except Oxbridge are still on the table for you, so don't get too hung up on this, plenty of other great universities that you can go to, and that will be a lot less stressful than Oxbridge!

Hi @nefukrowalter ,

As the other commenter has stated, do not get too hung up on Oxbridge, especially if it was not your original dream. There is no harm in applying for Oxbridge unis, as long as you have at least one safe option, and two options that match your predicted grades. There is no harm in being aspirational.

Secondly, if you are determined to go to an Oxbridge university, check out their foundation years. These are excellent opportunities to get onto their Law degree even if your grades are no as desirable.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
-Sophia (University of Lancashire)
