Best engineering uni near Manchester or just in the UK?

I'm looking for advice on the best unis near Manchester for engineering. I'm doing a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering and predicted DDM. Really don't want to go to Leeds! What would you recommend? 😊

Hi @Mizz0lini

Have you considered Manchester Met? Our Engineering department has strong industry links with a focus on enhancing our students' employability. You can take a look at our world class facilities in our new Dalton Building which houses our undergrad and postgrad engineering courses.

Your BTEC would be eligible for our BEng (Hons) courses, or you could consider one of our four-year integrated masters courses, MEng (Hons). These courses also have an optional placement year. You can find a list of our engineering courses here with information on course modules, entry requirements etc.

If you're not sure about Manchester Met, why not come and have a look round at our next Undergraduate Open Day on Saturday, 22nd November 2025, as you'll be able to chat with our engineering academics and current students, attend a subject talk, as well as tour the engineering facilities. You can book your place here.

Hope this helps and hopefully we will get to meet you on the 22nd!
Mel 😊
