Nottingham Industrial Economics or Birmingham Economics, University Firm Choice

Hi, I have received 2 offers so far from Nottingham for Industrial Economics and straight Economics from Birmingham. Which university would be better to firm as I have a slight worry on the difference Industrial Economics has to straight Economics, and if that puts me to any disadvantage when applying for jobs in the future or standing out or if it is looked as a not so challenging degree compared to straight economics?
Please can you give me your opinions and thoughts on this as this would be really appreciated.
Thank you

Hi, I'm in my final year at UoN for Industrial Economics. I've really enjoyed it and feel like it's set me up well, plenty of good options. The Uni is also a great place to be, as is Nottingham. I think you're going to have to go with your gut, after you've done some digging, as I'd love to know the answer to the main part of your question about the prospects as well, but I won't know until I go through it unfortunately.

I do think the degree will only ever be part of the puzzle when it comes to prospects, the rest will be what you do outside of the degree, how you approach things, how you set yourself apart from the crowd etc etc.

Good Luck with whichever option you go for, and don't worry too much - there is no wrong answer, they are both good options.

Hi, Thank you so much for your response as this is really helpful, I am leaning towards firming Nottingham as that is ranked higher for Economics than Birmingham, but there is not any rankings for Nottingham in Industrial Economics, would I assume that it is the same standard and quality as pure Economics?
I am extremely happy with this choice of Nottingham to study Industrial Economics but I still am a bit worried if it is treated differently to pure Econ, if it is would it be better if I try to apply to straight Economics at Nottingham through UCAS Extra? Please can you let me know your opinions and thank you so much for coming back to me.
Thank you

Was there a reason you chose Industrial Economics rather than Economics? If not, you could try emailing the department to see if they can change it from Industrial Economics to Economics. Nothing to loose by trying.

Hi, thank you so much for your reply.
I decided to choose Industrial Economics rather than Economics because I thought it would be a bit less competitive, but I have received offers from all of my universities and I have a slight doubt in my head if I went too safe with my options as Nottingham was my aspirational choice.
