Looking at fine art in Liverpool and stuck on which to apply to

I'm looking at Liverpool Hope and John Moores to study Fine Art. John Moores ranks higher in both art and design rankings and for student life but I feel like the student life would be pretty similar considering the campuses are both central. I also think the art rankings aren't very conclusive so would love to hear from other art students in either unis or who have went to open days.
Thank you :3

Hi @Junie333!

It's great to hear that you are thinking about Fine Art at Liverpool Hope! I have contacted some of our Student Ambassadors who study Fine Art so I'll let you know what they say when they get back to me.

In the meantime, have you thought about booking an Open Day with us? You'd have the opportunity to talk to our current students, see what our Fine Art students have been doing in their studios, meet the lecturers and get a feel for the university as a whole. If you were interested in booking an Open Day, you can do so here: https://www.hope.ac.uk/opendays/.

Hi there!

As Lottie has said, I think the best way to decide between the two would be to give us both a visit on an open day if that's a possibility

At our open days, you'll be able to meet the course staff, current students and see the facilities that we offer for Fine Art - this would be really beneficial as you'd be able to get a feel of each uni and what we offer. I've taken a look and both LJMU and LHU are holding an open day next Saturday, 15th November. At LJMU, we usually have two sessions for each course on an open day so it might be possible to visit both universities on the same day to help you make your decision!

The link to our open days is here: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate-students/undergraduate-open-days

Fine Art at LJMU is based at our Mount Pleasant campus, usually in the John Lennon Art and Design Building, and is super close to the city centre - it's right by the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

If you use this link (https://360tour.ljmu.ac.uk/?s=pano12?) and find the John Lennon Building in the 'LJMU Buildings' tab, then you can do a 360 degree virtual tour of our art building, and hopefully that will be interesting for you too!

Finally, you can watch a video on what it's like studying Fine Art with us at LJMU here: https://youtu.be/OlvoEosWkCc?si=PcXeumxK1AKsqYdv

Good luck with your decision! I hope you'll join us for an open day soon
