How old are we talking here?
When I was very little (6-7) I liked Chesney Hawkes - I Am The One and Only, and Belinda Carlisle, and Kylie Minogue.
My parents got me Kylie's Enjoy Yourself album, as well as the single of Belinda's Leave A Light On, for my sixth birthday. Also a Jason Donovan cassette but it was very quickly chewed up by my grandma's tape deck so I can't even remember which album it was.
At about 8-9 I got heavily into 60s music, especially The Beatles. My peers were really heavily into Michael Jackson at that point but I didn't listen to him a lot at that point.
10-11 You couldn't really miss Oasis as they had just become big, and popular. Also around this time I was into The Bangles, and Simon & Garfunkel, and Ace of Base.
My teenage years were a mash-up of all sorts of stuff. The cassettes / CDs I bought myself, or taped from the radio, from age 13 to 16 that I can remember were:
Abba - Gold (album)
OMD - Best Of (album)
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impression That I Get (single)
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn (single)
Britney Spears - Oops I Did It Again (single)
Britney Spears - Crazy (single)
Blink 182 - All The Small Things (single)
Cornershop - Brimful of Asha (single)
Meja - All Bout The Money (single)
Bon Jovi - It's My Life (single)
Bon Jovi - One Wild Night (single)
Eiffel 65 - Blue (single)
The Offspring - Pretty Fly For A White Guy (single)
Republica - Ready To Go (single)
Catatonia - Mulder and Scully (single)
Catatonia - Road Rage (single)
Catatonia - Dead from the Waist Down) single
Bang! - Shooting Star (single)
Enrique Iglesias - Bailamos (single)
Baddiel, Skinner and the Lightning Seeds - Three Lions (for Euro 96) (single)
Savage Garden - To The Moon and Back (single)
Steps - 5, 6, 7, 8 (single)
Steps - Tragedy (single)
Steps - Last Thing on My Mind (single)
Aqua - Aquarium (album)
Pulp - Disco 2000 (single)
The Fugees - Killing Me Softly (single)
Tony Braxton - Unbreak My Heart (single)
Whigfield - Saturday Night (single)
Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much (single)
There were likely tons more I just can't remember.
As well as albums we had in the house already:
Nearly all the Beatles Albums
A couple of Bee Gees albums
Lots of 60s albums
Adiemus - Songs of Sanctuary (album)
John Denver album
The Beach Boys album
Pavarotti
Lots of classical music
Steely Dan album
A compilation album of contemporary rock that had lots of stuff on like Crowded House, The Connells, Joan Armatrading, Suzanne Vega, etc.
Music from films and musicals
Peruvian Pan Pipe music.
Again probably more, I can't remember.
And then from 16 upwards I got more into rock / metal / nu metal / alternative stuff. My favourite song at that point on for many MANY years was Alice Cooper - Poison.
So now I'm very eclectic with my musical tastes.
