Maths uni application dilemma

hi everyone, i’m a year 13 student doing maths, further maths and welshbacc. i’m currently having a crisis regarding my application. i have been set on doing a maths degree since the start of year 12 and everything was fine, i did great in my AS exams (welsh students do AS in year 12 and A2 in y13) and i actually loved maths. now that im in year 13 i actually hate what im doing in both subjects and im actually so bad at maths now??? im borderline failing and i need AAA minimum in my a levels and i genuinely don’t think ill be able to cope doing a maths degree in university if i can barely do maths anymore now. so ive been wondering if i should do something else like accounting finance or data science, however i’ve completed my ucas applications (not submitted) and i have a perfect maths personal statement. i just don’t know what to do i feel so lost as maths is the only thing im good at (i thought)

has anyone had a similar experience/situation as me? i have no idea what to do i feel so lost.

Hi. This sounds like a very stressful and, honestly, distressing situation. You might want to consider if it could actually be that you're struggling with burn out.

it could potentially be from burn out, which is why i’m just so unsure about what to do but i’ve planned to meet with my head of year tomorrow so hopefully that will clear my mind abit

Have you been to any Open Days and listened to the Maths course presentations? Is what is covered in a Maths degree course actually appealing to you or not?

Remember, nowhere does it say you can only go to Uni straight from school, so its worth considering a gap-year to give yourself time to think about what you do actually want to do next - and why.
