UEA midwifery

Can I do psychology and sociology a level instead of sciences such as physics, chemistry and biology because I want to do midwifery after a levels and study at the uea but would that be possible without physics chemistry and biology?

Their entry requirements dont say anything about subjects needed so you can do whichever subjects you want 🙂

Hi there,

It’s great that you’re already planning ahead. For UEA’s Midwifery course, at least one science-related A-level is usually required, most applicants have Biology, though some are accepted with Psychology as their science if they have strong grades and relevant experience. Physics and Chemistry aren’t needed.

If you take Psychology and Sociology, you’d have a good foundation in understanding people and behaviour, but you might need to add Biology or a BTEC/Access qualification that covers anatomy and physiology to meet entry requirements.

It’s worth checking UEA’s course page or emailing the Admissions team directly.

UEA also has an Open Day on Friday 29 November, which is a great chance to speak with lecturers and current students about entry routes and the course structure.

Best,
Daniel
