Remember the 6 c’s and think of scenarios where you have demonstrated your commitment

Also have a creak simple drug calculations . Mainly be your self demonstrating your passion and commitment and resilience for tough but rewarding journey ahead . Good luck 🤞

Based on my experience, I’d prepare by reviewing my nursing fundamentals, reflecting on real-life situations that shaped my passion for healthcare, and practicing clear, confident answers to common interview questions.

Hi Maddy,

It's great to hear your applying for nursing. I’m a third-year Nursing student at the University of Southampton, and honestly the best way to prepare is to make sure you understand the 6Cs properly and can link them to real examples from your own experience. They ask about values a lot, so don’t just memorise them, think about times you’ve shown them (school, work, volunteering, caring for family etc).
Also make sure you have a solid understanding of:

why you want to be a nurse

what the role actually involves

some basic awareness of the NHS and the challenges nurses face

the NMC and professionalism (just the basics)

You’ll usually get a mix of:

“Why nursing?”

“Tell us about a time you showed compassion/teamwork/communication.”

“What are the 6Cs and why are they important?”

A simple scenario like how you’d handle a distressed patient or a mistake.

They’re not looking for clinical knowledge, but they do want to see that you understand the values and responsibilities behind the job and that you’ve actually thought about what the career is like.
I hope that was useful and feel free to ask any more questions.😄

Kind regards
Student Ambassador
