Hey so I'm currently in Yr12 and looking for law or criminology in person work experience in Birmingham as I think I'd like to be a solicitor in the future but it's hard to find. I've even looked into doing it with the police but can't get that. I'd also be interested in an internship but honestly idm. If anyone has any suggestions please help.

Honestly, persistence is key, sometimes just sending a polite email to a local solicitor asking for a day to shadow can work surprisingly well. Many firms offer “shadowing” or work experience placements for school students, even if it’s only a day or a week. Smaller local firms can be easier to approach than big national ones, try emailing them directly, explaining you’re keen to see what a solicitor does. National and larger firms also have opportunities for year 12's but they are normally selective, meaning you have to apply and maybe go through some interview rounds etc, I believe weightmans is an example of a firm that does this.
The best thing to do is make a Linkedin account where you follow all these different Uk firms, to find out about work experience opportunities.
Also virtual interships are much easier and more accessible to get into. Many firms have online training courses on Forbes, etc like White&Case and Taylor Wessing, you could always complete those.
Some websites I used to find out about law opportunities and also have mailing lists, etc are: Legal cheek, Bright Network, Ieuk.
Good luck ! But by the way you don't need work experience for a law degree, unis understand how difficult it is to get legal work experience as a sixth former and it's more dependent on family connections.

I recommend calling in at your local solicitors in person and dropping off your CV and speaking to the receptionist to make a great impression. An email is very impersonable and easily ignored. Also ask EVERYONE you know if they have any contacts.....my son got his legal work experience through his barbers wife's friend!
