Applying for accounting and finance

I’m not sure whether I should apply to LSE. I’m predicted A* in French, and As in Biology and Maths. I’ve read that LSE sometimes doesn’t accept A-levels in a native language, but I’m a bit unsure if that applies to me I wasn’t born in France, have only been there about four times (for around a month each), and French wasn’t actually my first language, even though I am French.

I’ve also seen that most successful applicants seem to have really strong GCSEs. Mine are 6666677888888 would that be okay?

I’m applying for Accounting and Finance, and also applying to Warwick, but I’m mainly worried about whether LSE would consider me.

LSE states that for A&F, they want to see traditional subjects (you have this through Maths) and subjects that demonstrate analytical or writing skills. You don't have a subject that demonstrates this (at least according to them), so your subject choices would be considered less preferable. Your GCSEs certainly don't help your case either.

However, if you have no other aspirational choices, I would still apply. If your personal statement is exceptional and demonstrates real passion for the subject, there is always a chance, albeit slim. If you are not willing to take substantial risk and waste a slot, pass on LSE.

French is very writing heavy though so surely they would take that into consideration? Warwick is a good choice.

Writing-heavy is not the same as demonstrating critical thinking and analytical writing. I doubt French requires anywhere near the logical reasoning skills that is required in Economics, for example.

Plus, even if French required high-level academic writing, LSE doesn't recognise it as an essay-based subject, so it would be useless regardless.

Do you think I should apply with A*AA in Economics, Mathematics and Computer Science? Im stuck on what Universities to apply to because I want to stay in London and dont want to waste a slot on somewhere I know I wont go.

Depends on the course. If the course wants to see FM and your school offers it, you are seen as a weaker applicant. Otherwise, why not?

As a professionally qualified accountant, let me reassure you that this isn't about whether you can handle the course.
This is about whether you can outshine your competition - other students competing to get on the course.

Others will be able to comment on the latter better than I am able, but let me assure you on a personal note that you are more than capable of handling the accounting (which is really founded on double entry) and the tax with A-level maths alone.
