2. Warwick (A*AA)
3. KCL (A*AA)
4. Bristol (AAA / A*AB)
5. Manchester (AAA)
my igcse grades were A* math, A chem, physic, bio, econ , B eng lang, cs, C art, eng lit (A*AAAABBCC)
ielts score 7.5, I have done lots of supercirriculars and have work experiences in finance fields too

im aware that it will be risky but if I get rejected from all 5 unis - im thinking of going into clearing / extras
is there any possibilities with my current stats.. or like anything? im an international student so I believe im not eligible for contextual offer

Hi there,

You’ve got an excellent academic profile, and it’s great that you’re already thinking ahead about your options. With your strong grades, work experience, and clear passion for finance, you’ve got a really solid foundation, and even if things don’t go exactly to plan with your first five choices, there are still fantastic universities where you can thrive and achieve your goals. One you should definitely consider is London South Bank University (LSBU).

LSBU offers a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance, an efficient and career-focused course designed to prepare students for real-world roles in the finance and business sectors. What really makes LSBU stand out is that the course is professionally accredited by major accounting bodies, including ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, and AIA, meaning you can earn exemptions from professional exams while you study. This gives you a real head start in your career and can save you both time and money after graduation.

As an international student, you’ll find LSBU to be incredibly welcoming and supportive. The university has a strong global community, and the International Office provides guidance on visas, accommodation, and settling into life in London. Your IELTS score of 7.5 is excellent, well above the minimum requirement, so you’ll meet the English language criteria easily. LSBU’s central London location is a huge advantage, too. We’re based in Elephant & Castle, just a short walk from the City of London, one of the world’s leading financial centres, meaning you’ll be surrounded by banks, investment firms, and global corporations, with fantastic opportunities for internships and networking.

Even if you’re applying to very competitive universities, LSBU is a brilliant choice to include, whether as a main option, insurance choice, or through Clearing/Extra. LSBU values academic ability, passion, and practical experience, so with your background in economics and finance work experience, you’d be a very strong candidate. The typical entry requirement for Accounting and Finance at LSBU is 112-120 UCAS points (BBC-BBB), which gives you plenty of flexibility based on your final results.

The university also offers excellent career and employability support, with many graduates going on to work in accounting firms, financial analysis, banking, and consultancy. The location, professional accreditations, and hands-on approach make LSBU a great place to start building your career in finance.

If you want to explore more, I’d highly recommend attending our Open Day on Saturday, 15th November. You’ll be able to meet lecturers, current students, and the international admissions team to discuss entry requirements and get advice on applying as an international student.

👉 You can sign up here: LSBU Open Day.
👉 You can also chat with our students through our Unibuddy platform: Chat with our students.

So even if your top choices are very competitive, LSBU offers a fantastic, globally recognised Accounting and Finance degree right in the heart of London, with the perfect balance of academic quality, professional preparation, and student support.

Your profile is strong, especially if you can achieve A*AA with Maths and Economics. Warwick Accounting and Finance is very competitive, but you are within a reasonable range for consideration.

The only small concern is that Warwick prefers applicants who take Further Maths if available, or at least show strong mathematical background. It is not a must, but having no Further Maths can make it a bit harder compared to some others who do.

Still, your IELTS and extracurricular experience look great. You can use your personal statement to highlight how your finance experience helped you understand the subject better. That can make your application stand out.

If your final grades end up as AAB, it might be more difficult, but sometimes results vary by year. You could keep options like Exeter, Leeds or Nottingham as backups since they also have good business schools.

So overall, you have a realistic chance for Warwick if your grades stay close to the top end.
