dentistry applicant

hey i’m a year 13 student who applied to dentistry this year, when would be a good time to start interview prep?
ngl after hearing about the number of applications skls like liverpool and leeds got as well as the reduction of spaces in plymouth, I’m having a lot of doubts I’d get in this year

On the bright side, I’ve got an offer for my 5th choice🤞🏾

Hi,

Congratulations on your offer, that's amazing!

In terms of when should start prepping i would say as soon as possible! If you haven't already start now!

Confidence plays a key role within interviews so make sure you are prepared and feel confident going into the interview (although remember it is completely normal to feel nervous!)

Interview dates take place from January - March and there are lots of online tips and videos to help prep you!

The interview style is MMI, meaning that it is a short assessment where there will be a chance for you to answer various questions and demonstrate your various skills.

Liverpool unis assessment style is discussed on this website if you scroll down: UK Dentistry Interviews 2026: MMI Questions, Interview Format & School Guide Blue Peanut Medical

I know dentistry is highly competitive, but with confidence in your ability and great preparation, I believe you will be able to successfully get through this interview!

All the best and good luck!
Katy,

My daughter (who applied for medicine) got interviews in December & some with max a couple of weeks notice so I'd suggest making a start on your prep.

Yeah I wasn't going to really start until I got an interview but my school do these mock interviews for med applicants so had to do a bit for that. Maybe just read a few articles and print out a load of possible questions so your ready to go. I was going to leave it till xmas hols otherwise.
