SFE Guidance, Funding for Year Abroad

Hello!

I had some questions regarding whether I could still have student finance during my year abroad. I completed a foundation year and have now progressed to the standard 3-year course in psychology, currently in my second year. (5 years total)

I'm planning to do a year abroad in USA, but I'm unsure if i will have any student finance so I'm worried this won't be possible, as I got a great research job opportunity for my year abroad that would help me in my career a lot. Does anyone know if I can still get my student loan?

Hi there,

There is an option for a year abroad with this course. Do you mean it would be 5 years in total of study which includes your foundation year, the 3 years of the course and the year abroad?

Thanks, Drew

Thanks, yes - this all sounds fine.

You're entitled to one additional year of funding from us, which you used in the foundation year.

So, if you're on the placement version of this course then you'll be entitled to funding in all years, including the placement year.

Thanks, Graeme
