Glasgow Life from a UofG student

Hi I’m Anoosha, a recent UofG graduate, and my favorite thing to talk about is how much I love Glasgow! The city of Glasgow itself is such an exciting and beautiful place to live and study, especially the West End. I love that the university is a centralized campus (with the exception of the Vet School), where all the buildings, student unions, gym, library, and other facilities are located close together. This creates a strong sense of community. The university has truly embraced the West End, with its many pubs, cafes, restaurants, and shops catering to students, offering discounts, and providing plenty of opportunities for part-time jobs. Another reason I chose Glasgow is for its vibrant music scene. There’s always a gig, comedy show, or free live music to see in the West End and at iconic venues like the Barrowlands, King Tut’s, and The Stand. Glasgow is also full of beautiful parks and green spaces. Right next to the main university building is Kelvingrove Park, where you’ll often find students relaxing in the sun on nice days (we do get sunshine, I promise!). Geography students even do fieldwork in the park, testing water, soil, and air quality in urban green spaces. My personal favorite is the Kelvin Walkway, where you can stroll along the river through the West End and into Kelvingrove Park. It’s a tranquil oasis that comes in clutch for library breaks.
