Pre reading for psychology

Which books should I read during my gap year before my psychology course?
Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. Man's search for meaning by Victor E. Frankl. How we learn, by Stanislas Dehaene. Madness Explained by Richard P Bentall. Those should keep you busy for a while. Also any of the books published by Oliver Sacks, and any psychological or neuroscience-y books in Oxford's A Very Short Introduction series will be good for a general overview of topics.
Hello @bethR123,

That’s great to hear you will be starting university soon!

I currently study at the University of Southampton, and when my lecturers get asked this at the open days, they tell students to enjoy their time off instead of worrying about doing pre work. Especially as its hard to know what content will be covered until you start.

However, if you are still eager to do some reading, it may be useful to get in contact with your lecturers to see what they recommend!

Hope this helped and good luck

An exciting journey is about to begin 🙂 I did my MSc Psychology a few years back and had a great time. A nice book to dip your toe in would be 'Psychology: A Students Handbook' by Michael Eysenck

Enjoy your gap year!
