would i be able to transfer to university of birmingham?

hi all.

i’m currently studying a foundation year in law at BCU. and to be honest im not really fond of the uni. due to unexpected circumstances, i underperformed in my a levels. going from predicted ABB to CEU. however, im currently on track for a first in my foundation year. i’ve contacted UOB admissions team with the following questions: would i be able to apply to first year law with my foundation or would i be able to transfer after first year. they have said no to both. however, if i came out with a first in my undergrad law degree first year, would i then be able to apply to first year law at uob that way?
I think it’s very unlikely. They don’t sound very agreeable to transfers overall, so using year 1 at another uni to apply to year 1 with them seems like a long shot.

This is why I generally advise people to retake their AL rather than do a FY, as it leaves you with few options.

You could ask other unis about considering BCU’s foundation results, you might get luckily somewhere else.

UOB says on their website just under the grade requirements that they don't accept transfers onto their course, this is the case with most UK universities.

In my opinion, if you want to go and study at a different university redo your A-Levels, I'd heavily advise you to ask your college or sixth form to let you resit it with them. Even in the case you achieve high grades at a foundation level, a lot of universities will still require you to meet their A-Level requirements to progress onto their own Law course.

From what I've heard, although I don't study law myself it's an extremely elitist profession when it comes to your university so if you plan on going into Law you should ideally aim for the best university you can. Get good grades in your resits and sit the LNAT in my opinion.
