Is getting into university realistic for me?

Hiya!

I’m 18 almost 19 and I’ve been out of formal education for 3/4 years now due to personal issues. I recently got my functional skills maths and english and I really want to get back into education, I’m planning to start an access to he diploma soon and I’ve been researching university’s (Royal Holloway and City St Georges being at the top of my list rn). I want to study some kind of history or politics course and I’ve been looking into entry grades and they both take access to he diplomas but I just wanted to know if it would be realistic for me to get into these schools. Has anyone else been in the same position as me and got in?

Thanks!

If you meet the entry requirements then yes, you can apply for them
If you do not then email them and ask about your situation
Don't see why it wouldn't be realistic potentially in the long run, in the immediate term I'd recommend focusing on the access (or similar) course you're doing first and if you enjoy that and are comfortable with that kind of academic work. then definitely do look at your options for uni

In my case, they didn't care about my grades for a-levels. I kind of regret going when I wasn't ready to...make sure you are entirely ready academically, mentally and can cope. Because it's just going to be debt otherwise, maybe a forgivable debt but still a debt. I think it doesn't matter when you go to uni, just try to be prepared and don't rush into it.
