Can temporary accommodation come under the requirements for contextual offers??

im applying to UoM as a stretch to start with anyways since the grade boundaries for my course are AAB, and my current predicted are BCD.

for context me and my mum have been homeless multiple times in my life, my last stable home was when we were living with my nan 2 years ago, but she kicked us out and we've been tossed around multiple temporary accommodations since then. when looking at UoM's ' contextual admissions calculator' temporary accom doesnt come under being in care (nor does it come up for other unis') but i was wondering if it would apply if the time period of being in temporary accomodation is long.

the current postcode for my temporary accom comes up as an area that isnt of disadvantage, so i guess thats some sort of loophole that makes it look like im living in a good area, even though im technically unhoused and my previous addresses have flagged as areas on disadvantage

Do any of the universities you want to apply for have a Widening Access sceme? Your situation would come under mitigating circumstances if you apply under Widening Access. Scottish Univeristies have this sceme, but I'm not sure about English Uni's.

Yes my other unis do! I've had a look on UoM's website but it seems to only be valid once an offers made, so that leaves me to assume id need to have the grade requirements anyways which is a bit confusing. I know my head of year is going to mention my situation in my reference so I guess I'll have to wait and see :')

Hi,

You could give their admissions team a call to discuss your situation and ask whether they offer any widening access schemes.

Hope this helps,
